SkyCity Adelaide will remain closed until at least 27 July amid the current Covid-19 cluster in South Australia.
The decision comes after the announcement from the South Australian Government that the state will enter a seven day lockdown “in response to the current Covid-19 cluster in the community.”
The venue’s casino and entertainment facilities will remain closed, with Eos by SkyCity to remain open to accommodate hotel guests currently staying there.
The operator added that its New Zealand properties – in Auckland, Hamilton and Queenstown – are unaffected by the latest restrictions in South Australia, and remain open at New Zealand Alert Level 1.
But under the Level 4 restrictions in Australia, non-essential retail outlets must close, while only seated food and beverage is allowed. Large events must also be cancelled, with masks made mandatory.
SkyCity Adelaide has become the third casino in the country to suspend operations in recent weeks, with The Star Sydney closed until at least 30 July, while Crown Melbourne – which is closed until today – is expected to remain shut amid the almost certain extension of Victoria lockdown measures.
The latest wave of Covid-19 is currently sweeping across the country, with the number of cases in Syndey alone moving over the 1,000 mark.
