The World Series of Poker and GGPoker this week teamed up to jointly bring quality WSOP Circuit action to the online poker scene.
Under the terms of the recently announced partnership, the two major poker organizations will hold the WSOP Super Circuit Online Series on the GGPoker Network.
The newly introduced online poker tournament series will include hundreds of individual poker events, including 18 WSOP Circuit gold ring tournies. The winner of each of these events will be awarded a coveted gold piece of WSOP Circuit paraphernalia.
In addition, the first-ever WSOP Super Circuit Online Series will also extend two invitations for participation in the $1 million freeroll WSOP Global Casino Championship, which is an official WSOP gold bracelet event.
One of those invitations will be given to the WSOP Super Circuit Online Series Main Event winner and the to the player who collects the most points throughout the series.
The new online poker series is set to kick off in early May and to run for approximately three weeks, or right in time for the WSOP in Las Vegas, although it is still unclear whether the largest live tournament poker festival in the world will take place this year.
US Players Will Not Be Able to Participate
It has emerged that players from the US would not be allowed to participate in the new online poker series. It will only be open to participants from countries where online poker is legal.
In addition, since the series is to be held on GGPoker, it should be noted the online poker network does not accept players from a number of countries, including Afghanistan, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Israel, Cuba, and Curacao, among others.
GGPoker players will be able to qualify for WSOP Super Circuit events via satellite tournaments.
Commenting on their recently clinched partnership with the WSOP, GGPoker Head Jean-Christophe Antoine said that the move “brings together two like-minded global organizations” and that he “can’t wait to see GGPoker players competing for WSOP Circuit rings online.”
WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart added that they are thrilled to partner with “an operator on the rise who is both aggressive and passionate about growing poker engagement around the world.”
GGPoker ambassador and poker professional Daniel Negreanu said that he gives credit to the WSOP for “bringing the circuit online during these trying times” and that online poker players “will love the experience of chasing rings at GGPoker.”
GGPoker recently welcomed a new member of its roster of brand ambassadors. One of the world’s largest online poker rooms. That new member happened to be Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, the French poker player and professional gamer.
